Illinois Quail Keepers

Hi guys!:D:D
I'm new to the whole quail thing (and birds in general if I'm being honest), it's so nice to find others in Illinois. I'm in the Lisle/Naperville area. I'm actually stuck in the searching stage at the moment. I've been wanting some button quail for a while just for pets, but it seems no one sells adults, and I only have room for two (a pair) so I can't play the hatching egg lotto. I've scoured craigslist and the rest of Google's first 10 pages of stuff. Any suggestions?

I just want to mention that if you want pets you can actually touch, you will absolutely need to get them as chicks, and even then you might not be able to keep them tame. If you get adults, they'll be see-but-not-touch pets.

Very good to know, thank you! How would you suggest getting chicks but not hatching eggs? I thought that was near impossible. (My living situation has limited me to only two unless I can convince my parents otherwise).

Welcome Dakota! I'm not too far from you (I work in Naperville) and we will have some bobwhites available soon if you're interested. They're 6 weeks now, still can't sex them but they're getting close. We had 30 hatch out this year, we sold about 20 and the last 10 were the most docile of the bunch. Most of them are picked up daily and handled. We won't keep all of them, we're mostly looking to add a few females, the rest will be available.

Not sure how you can get chicks otherwise, I've hand to hatch out all ours.

In that case, you'll need to find a breeder and get the chicks soon after they hatch. Can't help you with that though, as I'm in another country..
