Im a new mommy and its prob nothing but....

Did you pick up the vits or Brewers yeast?  @Shiyanne
   Hows the duckling doing today?

I could not find it in my little useless town.. However i did find out that the starter im useing is medicated and she hooked me up with electrolyte and probotic? Until i can find the yeast. Ill have to go to next town and as i dont have a vehicle atm...

They are doing awesome.. Running around peep peeping.. My lil peking has almost doubled in size.. They grow so fast... Didnt realize that darn fast tho..

Ive been stalking all the posts till my head hurts.. But im learning..

Also i posted some of my chickens and found out they are not what i was told at purchase... Apparently i have a rhode island white and langs(something). Ill post rest n see what else i have lol..

Also, whats a good thread to read on how to tell who lays what and if theres a potential baby inside?.. Id love to breed my langs...

To see if an egg is fertile or unfertile, I believe most people candle the egg (Put the egg up against a flashlight or light source in a dark room. If it's fertile, I believe it should be somewhat developed...?) I can't help much on this, because I've never hatched eggs before. Too many unknowns - like the number that will actually hatch, the boy to girl ratio, etc. Also, I'm really impatient. I would do it if I could!

Actually, @Miss Lydia probably knows more than me

You'll need a rooster of the breed. and it isn't a chick until brooding begins. or incubating.

I'll get you some links.
https://www.backyardchickens.com/products/langshan is this what your talking about?

https://www.backyardchickens.com/t/16008/how-to-tell-a-fertile-vs-infertile-egg-pictures

@QuackSpeak that would be after brooding or incubating begins that is when you candle to see if the egg is fertile and forming a duckling or chick. Usually around 5-7 days after brooding or incubating starts.

@Shiyanne go to top of page and look for breeds and or Learning center lots of info there.

Another reason Nutritional yeast is so important Pekins are such fast growers their legs can suffer for it.

just saying some duckling really need it and all ducklings should have it while in their biggest growing stage.

Im still trying to find it, i just figured was better than nothing? Did i think wrong??

Yes that link looks exactly like my big blk roo.. But mine has major feathers down his legs.. And i have the female as well.. So should i seperate them 2 so that i know its only thier eggs?

My neighbor has a nice size flock but not so good at maintaining them... Ive watched her incubate hers and all but i want to know ins and outs before starting. (She dont explain anything)

Im enjoying these new experiences so much.. And you guys are making it so painless...

Thank you @Miss Lydia for clearing that up

I thought that, after mating and the egg is laid, the duckling begins to form. Does the duckling only begin to develop after the eggs are put into a warm environment?
