I'm Curious about the Size of your Coops

Hubby worked really hard to build this for me! He would say I helped but all I really did was paint it. I love how the red doors can be removed for ventilation in the summer, yes, there is hardware cloth on it. A lot has been added since this picture too. We put a roost bar in the run and a silo looking gravity feeder on the back side. It is the perfect size for our small flock of 5.

That's a wonderful roof over it all. It's a nice looking coop. I mostly stand around talking while my husband builds everything. I'm the supervisor, and the gopher.

I have spent many years painting stuff. That in itself is a big thing. Nice job. I really like it.

Thanks, we really like it. The long door on the front drops down to make cleaning super easy. And that roof was on clearance at Home Depot. Just $1.25 a sheet!

That would make routine maintenance easy to be able to drop a side. Probably easier on the back not to have to bend over and shovel.

Stuff is sweeter when it's gotten for a deal. :)

My coop is a 4X4 with a roosting bar for extra room. (It holds my 10 hens comfortably.)
It also has 3 nesting boxes. I keep a tarp on the floor of it so it's easier to clean out.

We had to chop the legs off of the coop a little over a year ago and put on wheels. We were moving and wanted to take the coop with us, we couldn't get it in our trailer with the legs so we decide to chop them off and put on wheels.

Your hen doesn't look too happy to have her picture taken on the nest. She's very pretty. All your birds are pretty.

I like how you coop is in the center with the run around it. I also like the big roof overhang.

I also love how it was going with you no matter what. Looks well constructed. I would take it too.

Wish we had a creek. Does having one bring in more predators? Or maybe it keeps them away?
Brings in predators... it's like a highway for them. Also to the east a couple of miles is a wild life rehabber and to the west is a forest preserve.... I have everything from mink to bobcats... coons and coyotes are regular visitors... Had to beat a coon with a shovel before he grabbed more than a handful of tail feathers, during the day... a couple of hawk attacks.. so far everyone has survived. Well except that coon.

Lol. She wasn't happy. She in particular doesn't like to be bothered while on the nest.

Oh yeah! My dad had just finished building it a few months before we decided to move. He wasn't leaving without his masterpiece!
He put a lot of time and effort into that coop! I'm really impressed how it turned out too!

Yikes, I guess I'm better off without a creek.

I always wonder what size coops people have. I personally have a very large shed 40x40 that I use as my main coop. It's got a few separation pens, half the shed houses goats that other half houses donkeys. The chickens are allowed all over most of it but are kept out of the feed areas. They do have their own areas. They roughly have access to 30x40. I think my shed maxes out at about 75-80 chickens and 10-15 muscovy ducks. My birds are free to come and go, there's no run on this shed.

My bantam coop is 8x10 with a run roughly 6x30. They aren't often locked in and can come and go as they please. It comfortably houses 15-20 bantams.

My turkey shed is 10x12 with a 20x100 foot run and can house 12-15 comfortably.

So share what you have, because I'm always wondering. Feel free to share pictures too. I've seen some adorable coops on here. :) I'm also curious if anyone else has a big building, which is definitely a luxury.
