Exactly what I do now...I have netting over my runs to prevent hawks and eagles from getting my birds. And if one of my chickens happened to get out and a raptor got it, it would be my fault and the raptor would have a nice lunch.

There is a law in Montana which says that its a felony for a wife to open her husband's mail.

Its also illegal for unmarried women to fish alone in Montana, and for married women to fish alone on Sunday!

It's also illegal for people to have sex in anything other than the missionary position in Montana.

These are all laws, just like the one that Writer "broke". If we would DARE break these, then who knows what would happen next!!! Heaven forbid the consequences!! A lawless society!! The Horror!

There is a grey area in those laws. Each states have their own laws however there are some exceptions depending on the situation arises.

I, too, have done this and released them when they were caught up on nets.. And I did care for baby coons over the weekend before the wildlife officer came out to take them. So what do you want her to do, let the hawk eat her roo while the wild life officer comes? I bet the wild life officer would have done the exact same thing, remove the hawk from her premises and release them elsewhere. I sure am not going to wait around for hours or for three days (for the coons) for the officers to come and get the hawk. Manpower is in very short supply here.

As long she is not killing, using for her own purposes, I think it is ok to release the hawk. Would he be back? Most likely! They have hundreds of miles to fly around, some are territorial and some are not.

This may be true, but if I broke any of these laws....I would not post it on a public forum for 60,000+ people to see!

How do you protect your beautiful puppy dogs and other animals from birds of prey?
Would you just stand there and let it eat one of them also? I bet not.

Love your Aussies , they are wonderful dogs
