They like humidity, but CA's pretty dry. As long as you water it it will survive. Make sure it has bark before you put it outside if it gets cold. You do need an A and B type to make fruit

I'm not sure, what I've done is gotten seeds form my pre-existing a and b trees but i have no idea how to tell whether a seed is a or b

They don't tolerant less than 20 fahrenheit. You could always just keep it in a pot outside and bring it in if it gets cold

And how big do they get?
Could you post some pictures of your existing plants when you get the chance??

Each type of seeds need pretreatment before planting mainly stone fruits.
As for citrus I soak them in a cup of water for a couple of days then plant it.

Citrus seeds do not need any pretreatment. I have germinated many of them over the years without any problems. I put them in potting soil and kept it moist.

The one date seed that I got to germinate and grow was soaked in water for months before it germinated.

It's dark right now, but I will tomorrow. I only have one tree right now and it's about 4 years old. It's a type B fuerte
