My chickens:
Barred Rock, Delaware, SL Wyandotte, two Silkies, two Polish, 3 Cochins and one polish mixed with silver spangled hamburg.
What about you?
We have French Copper Marans ( hen & roo)... Cuckoo Marans (2 roos)... Anconas (4 roos & 4 hens)... Chanteclear (1 hen)... Wyandott (2 roos & 3 hen)... Partridge Chanteclear (4 hens)... Barn Mix ( 1 "rumpless" roo and 2 hens)... Ameracauna ( 4 hens) and one German named one that I am not sure of but she is sweet!
They are all under a year old and we are over run by roos.... guess this wasn't the year to start a flock.... hahahaha. We are in the process of trying to re-home most of the roos as we have close neighbours and we don't want them to get ticked with us.
I just love our chickens though.... they are so cool to spend time with and it is usually my Sat morning thing to take my coffee and "be one with the chickens" for a few hours.
PS.... if you know of anyone looking for some sweet roosters, please let me know!
I don't know many chicken people, other than my breeders. I just went to a chicken show last Saturday. It was awesome! Loved every minute of it
That's where we aquired six of our new chickens (2 of which are roos). So far we only have two roos out of eleven. I know that might be a little too much for a small flock, but one is a silkie rooster, and he is very tame. The other is a cochin rooster. I can't wait to see my cochins full grown! The boy is already HUGE and his comb isn't even red! His hatch mate has no signs of a comb yet!~ They may be around 3 months old.
I spend most of my free time with them. Great replacement for TV and computer if you ask me. Tonight we are expanding their run. Hopefully they can use it long enough before it starts to get really snowy
You know how it is!
Did you have your flock last winter?
I really want some Ameracaunas.. Didn't have any at the snow I went to.. And they also only had bantam chanteclears. I wanted a standard!
