I'm leaving BYC forever...

Pics
My grandma treats my dad like garbage and always calls him fat and stuff (he works out and diets, its just his body), but he gives everything to make her happy... like giving away MY pets, along with my biggest passion, because "It will make her lawn look nice". She also lives with 3 destructive kids that have parents who have watched them choke my little sis but told us it was our fault. Last time I showed them my fowl, they chased them, threw them, and tried to wack them with a stick. My greatest hope is that they go really far back (they have 50 acres) away from them.

It is official... it was never about the feed. My dad was tired of them and always prioritizes the dogs. The moment we get rid of a dog, he gets a new one. I'm not even a dog person. Basically our 2 dogs chase the poor birds and instead of training them or separating them, he chooses get rid of the only pets who actually pull their own weight. My mom and I love them and want to keep them, but my dad already made the deal without discussing it with my mom. He says that he told my grandma to pick them up when she is ready... He says maybe we can start over when we get a new house (during taxes, either this Jan or next), but he always "forgets" and likes to say I'm lying, gas-lighting, and manipulating. So yeah... I never had a chance to keep them. He made the deal before he even told me or my mom... So yea
Oh that sucks :(
can you build a chicken fence and little house to keep the chickens separated from the dogs? I mean you can buy one, but I prefer to make my own. All you need is some chicken wire or mesh and some wood (and nails/screws and a hammer). or you could make one out of a BIG plastic box, say how many poultry do you have?

But what is the actual reason he wants to take them away? He doesn't even have to take care of them, right? Wouldn't he enjoy some free eggs?

My understanding was the parents are paying for feed, so the eggs would not be free.
But she says that it wasn't because of the feed cost.🤔

Or maybe you could try selling fertile eggs or incubating chicks to make up for the feed?

I'm signing off for good. My parents are getting rid of all of my ducks and chickens... so yeah. They say the feed costs too much.. so yeah. Bye

And based on the kind of people they are, I'm not getting any more until I'm an adult (5 years)... Bye @Lacy Duckwing & @DucksAreBest
Sorry about your birds. You don’t have to leave if you don’t want to, you can help with emergencies/diseases or just chat about your old flock! Please don’t be leaving us yet! :fl
