Thanks for the compliment on my blue girl. I'll eventually crack open that tiny egg, to see if there is any sign of yolk in it, but I assume its just white.

And I do believe hens will skip a day when they lay a double yolk, but if they skipped the day before, they could be caught up! lol Guess you could write it on your calendar.

Lisa beat me to it -- careful what ya wish for! I had over 30 broodies this year alone. Some 2 or 3 rounds!! :th

Go bantams. More birds in less space. :D Whereabouts in NE OH are you? I'm north western WV, not far from Marietta OH!
I believe you were the first to tell me that!:lau
She is a lovely blue WV!:love

That's what I was planning but the grand conquered his fear of the turkeys on his own with these guys and made friends with them..Lol so after we get some new babies in spring hopefully they will keep him busy and I'll be able to dispatch the extra Tom's...:fl
my daughter cant wait for me to kill them so we can eat them
i keep telling her 'next year baby, first we need them to give us some eggs'

I'm in Garrettsville, OH. in the middle of akron, cle, & youngstown.
We do like our little ones. When we got them they were the same size as the reg chicks we got, I didn't realize how tiny they are as babies! I kinda want one just to see a teeny chick.. plus there's the curiosity to see what they'd look like.

Wow, I hope I don't get that many broodies. We figured we might let one sit on a few eggs that way we don't end up w/ a ton of chicks, but we def don't need to be start a hatchery here. I having a hell of a time just keeping the ones we have alive.

You can't eat his buddies, hubs thinks eventually he'll get to eat some chickens too little does he know it will be when they die of old age and are tough as boot leather. I don't blame your grandbaby one bit turkeys are cool.
Everyone else here wants the turkeya for dinner...Just Jesse that has an issue with it..

Well, I got my first eggs out of the 2 little Cochins I got a few days ago! Teeny tiny.
