I've been around small scale chicken flocks my whole life. My grandma had chickens, my mom had chickens, and I've had a flock of around a dozen for the past 5 years. This year I'm upscaling and doing things differently.
I currently have 5 roosters, 35 hens, and one pekin duck hen.
I have barred rocks, red crosses, leghorns, and bantams in my personal flock. I recently added black copper marans, blue marans, ameraucanas, easter eggers, and F1 olive eggers and plan on breeding for olive eggers to sell.
I just love how mixed flocks are so full of personality and endless entertainment. I could sit out with my flock all day and never be bored.
I'm a stay at home mom with a wonderfully helpful handyman for a husband.
I'm also a gardening hobbyist that was raised on a farm with cows, pigs, and hunting in the woods behind our property. I've dabbled in aquariums and ponds. I even built a pond for my duck myself because I was tired of cleaning out her kiddy pools every day.
I've found a lot of helpful answers to questions I've had here in this community and am really happy to be a part of it with yall
