i'm SO ashamed!!!

I have a light on in my coop so my girls are laying (and the young ones are starting to lay with no problem). I've been hoarding eggs for the last several weeks so I can 1) have plenty for baking, and 2) give eggs as Christmas gifts to my family that I don't see regularly.

My DH and I laugh, too, every time we walk by the eggs in the store!

It really is a wonderful feeling!

Don't feel bad; we just bought 8 dozen pathetic white store-bought eggs for Christmas baking

Tells you how much baking we do here. And as I noticed yesterday, the ladies are slowly getting rosy and perky again... which means they ought to start really rolling along about the first of the year.

Which also means that we'll just be stockpiling, because we're usually set for baked goods well into February. Oh well. Next year I'm freezing eggs for winter.

and i sure do hope the girls get back to it soon enough!!! hopefully next year won't be like this, considering that i'm getting more chickens (yea!! fun!!).

For those that are all in the same egg-less boat, we bought a dozen at WallyWorld that are suppose to be from non-caged layers and it even brags on the carton about these eggs having quote "rich golden yolks". Guess they may be a little darker than the normal store-bought ones. Then my neighbor kindly offered a dozen eggs from her egg source so DW can have the others for her Christmas baking and I have the real eggs for breakfast! Come on Springtime!!!

Oh that really stinks. I am sorry. I have 5dozen in the fridge and another dozen on the
counter and I just finished my baking for Christmas. I will gladly share with you come and

My apologies. Just don't whack the egg on the side of the dish like you do your fresh ones. I did that once and the shell darn near disintegrated.

I had to buy store bought eggs the entire month of November! I just counted my layers the other night...I have over 60! The entire month we got around 8 eggs or less.
