What was it we redeemed for the Funk and Wagnall Encyclopedia? I think it was laundry detergent?

Yes, the Wish Book.Anyone remember the Sears and Robucks catalogue? One could buy a house from it. Wish I still had one of those - wonder what it would be worth today in mint condition?
Our house is a Sears bolt together, 74 yrs old. Hey! it's as old as me and in just as good shape!Anyone remember the Sears and Robucks catalogue? One could buy a house from it. Wish I still had one of those - wonder what it would be worth today in mint condition?
... and THAT'S why my kids grew up outside. We played in the creek (tubing to the library!,) camped every month (Scouting is AWESOME!,) dug in the dirt (mudpies and sandcastles) and spent countless hours exploring bike trails and my sister's dairy farm. We never had cable and they had no clue who "The Simpsons" were ... and we never missed any of it!Well that’s what happens when the younger generations protect themselves from every little germ out there. With us having lived through all these years…..and surviving…… we should be good to go for quite sometime yet.![]()
Mine, too - built back in '27 from Sears catalog plans. It's almost a hundred years old, now. I'm not, but it certainly feels like it sometimes. I'm so old I remember when my body didn't ache. Now my house and my knees make the same creaks! Our house is a Sears bolt together, 74 yrs old. Hey! it's as old as me and in just as good shape!Really the house is a solid build.

I’ve stepped on more goathead pods(?) than jacks. They are the same general shape as the seed of a weed that grows in southwestern states, called the goathead. You didn't want to get into a patch of those, barefoot.
Before chickens, my garden was green and clean. Now I can see chicken poops here and there, that is me picking up chicken poops every day. I am not walking barefoot in my backyard, prior to having chickens as I have dogs, and yes....all about poops and I do pick them up every day. I love my green lawn.I’ve stepped on more goathead pods(?) than jacks.
And yes, the more animals I obtained in my adult years led to lower frequencies of going barefoot (indoors and outdoors!!). Sometimes civilized behavior promotes health![]()
