I'm so upset, I can't think straight...

I lost my stud that I had for 11 years one New Year's Day and I know just how you are feeling.

Lots of hugs. It's all that helps.
Pull out the pics, remember the good times and be happy for him that he went in a "good" way, no suffering or illness.

Y'all have been just so wonderful to me. I have some pictures of him at my Mom's house, up the road a bit. When I head up there this weekend, I'll have to be sure and dig them out and post them so that y'all can see just how beautiful he was!!

The rainbow bridge. I also cry everytime I read that, and today I just "lost" it when I read it. It does make us all feel so much better, though. God, I miss him so much!

Thanks again, y'all. Each and every one of your replies makes me cry again, but at the same time, makes me feel better. It's great to have folks like y'all just reaching out to a total stranger!!!

HOW do all these critters get under our skin like that? I just never understood people who didn't like animals. I can't live without animals in my life!!! (I'm sure the feeling here is mutual!!!) Might have something to do with that unconditional love deal.....

I'm so sorry you lost your buddy! I'm sending hugs to you, I hope you treasure all the memories the two of you shared.

I know I will be facing the same thing one day. My best friend, Cody is 23 and also has arthritis. I don't ride her anymore, my GD will ride her some and last year she worked with handicapped kids and they competed on her at the local Special Olympics.

Some people just don't "get it", a horse can be one of the truest friends you can have. A relationship built over time with a horse is irreplaceable. There is such trust and just knowing each other, that helps us get through the tough periods in our lives.

He is not in any pain anymore and running free waiting to see you again one day.

It's awesome, that's what it is!!!

My mother had never heard of the Rainbow Bridge before, so I sent her a copy of it, she said she's sure that's where he is now!!! When I get up there, I'll be sure and get pics of him to post.

I am so glad you are finding comfort here. Almost everyone on here has or will go through a loss and need the comfort of others. I too have a Thoroughbred gelding I have had for 16 years. He is 20 years young, but I am dreading the day. The Rainbow Bridge makes me cry everytime I read about it...no matter what day it is.
I am so sorry, it takes very special people to care that much about their animals. Think about all the good times you had together and just smile in the memory. He knows how much he was and is loved. He was a very lucky guy to have such a loving person to share his life with! God Bless his dear soul!
