Im thinking one of my hens has a respiratory infection.....

I prefer Duramycin to Tylan, but I don't like the powdered forms of either.

The only med I mix with water (no bleach) is Sulmet.

I know lots of folks feed yogurt when giving antibiotics. Mine have continual access to the yard so I don't, but it's something you might consider.

The thing about a virus, as I'm sure you know, is that it can cause a general weakness in the immune system that allows for a secondary infection that could be a killer.

When I do have one get sick then I treat the whole flock with Sulmet in the water for 3-4 days. Again, I'm not talking about a sneeze here and there.

Im not a fan of the powder in the water either but i have it so Im going to try it, I also have the Tylan but Ill see if this works ..I will also give her some yogurt, thanx..

Ive never bought Sulmet before so I am not familiar with it. Perhaps I will look for some to give my flock to be on the safe side...

Sulmet is an old sulphur drug: works with cocci and coryza. I believe it helps with other respitory infections as well. Of course, something like CRD it ain't going to touch.
