Impacted crop

Congrats on getting that water in her, you did great! :highfive: No food and no grit needed right now, just fluids. I can tell by looking at her poop that she is dehydrated, so just keep giving fluids. Can you go get some Pedialyte or Gatorade for her? That might be better than plain water. And make sure that the fluids you tube are warmed to about 102 degrees.

What does her crop feel like this morning? That will indicate where you go from here.

When tubing anything into a chicken, you want to take it slow and not overfill the crop or you'll get regurgitation. Not to mention it's very uncomfortable for the patient. She may be willing to start drinking and eating on her own soon as her strength returns.

Just want to give all you wonderful members a shout out for being so helpful and supportive to this young chicken owner. It can be scary enough as an Adult, being so young must be terrifying. I'm sure they will never forget the kindness you all have shown.

@chickenenthusiasts5698 You are doing great and your girl knows you are trying everything you can to help her. My thoughts are with you both and I hope she is doing better this morning.

@chickenenthusiasts5698, I’m sorry I crashed on you last night. I’m thankful for some of the others that are either night owls or on the west coast. ;)

One thing I haven’t mentioned is that I am a firm believer in Nutri Drench. It has been a lifesaver for more than a couple of my chicks/chickens. If they are weak for any reason the Nutri Drench is an instant pick me up. I guess sugar water would do that too, though. She may benefit from a dose of either.

Also, I still think you need to be giving her the miconazole. I do remember that giving Gabby this medicine was a huge turning point in her recovery. That and giving her the grit.

You asked a bit earlier what the dosage for the miconazole is. Here it is.
Squeeze off half an inch and wipe it off your finger inside her beak. Do this twice a day for a full seven days.
My girl even pecked it all off my finger. I didn’t have to wipe it inside her beak.

This is what i’ve been giving her in her water. Should I still get gatorade?

Sorry for such a late update but her crop feels smaller!:yesss: I’ve started her on the yeast treatment as well.

Keep up everything you’ve been doing. In a week’s time she’ll be as good as new. But you will always need to keep a check on her crop. She just may always have this problem...but now you can nip it in the bud. ;)
