Good after noon everyone sally what do you mean buy getting quail for your rabbit pen as in under it to clean up the bunny mess? I was just wondering because I want quail in the spring but I want my set up as efficient as possible also did anyone else have an aggressive day old chick before and how did you deal with it

hey speney, no the pens are empty for over a year now since we processed our last batch, perfect size for quail raising

Good morning-

I like the hatching app for taking notes. That way I can look back and see my temps, humidity results, etc so I can make changes for future hatches. I use hatchabatch.

Just have to remember that the days are always one off though.
I don't own a smart phone, so I made a spreadsheet on the computer

Yup, I have it on my iPhone. Most of the built in things aren't really needed, but it's so easy to take notes in.

My brain doesn't remember things as well as it used to so I enter where the eggs came from and altitude, egg condition, etc. even whether I would order from that person again.

Probably other apps out there that do the same thing, but it works for me. (Faster than keeping a spreadsheet for me, I usually have my phone nearby.)

Explain "aggressive day old chick", please. What's it doing?

The following are suggestions for first aid kits from a few good sources.

Additional Supplies

For those who are more experienced and/or less squeamish, or who simply live too far to get to the veterinarian quickly, you may want to add:
Popsicle sticks - for immobilizing broken legs

Ophthalmic ointment - for scratched eyes, minor conjunctivitis.

Suturing materials (surgical needles and thread) - Use only if you know what you are doing, or to save a bird’s life. Take to veterinarian ASAP.

Gelfoam -stops bleeding from flesh wounds. Available from your veterinarian.

Tegaderm dressing - helps healing for burns and certain open wounds. Encourages granulation ( healing/scabbing.) Available at any pharmacy.

Lactated Ringer's solution - used for IV rehydrating of dehydrated avians and flushing wounds. (Available from your Veterinarian)

Syringes - for injectable medications and irrigation of wounds.

Oxygen - this requires a prescription from your vet to be put on file with a local supply house. This is only needed by the most experienced of bird owner/breeders.

I think I've posted a list a few times, but should do another, though I'm afraid someone might call the DEA if I do, lol.
