which breed are the ducks again WV? and are your intentions to remove spray and cool them during the day at times? the reason I ask is weight loss issues for duck #1 and #2 a newly laid eggs air cell effect on that too

you lost me....

I set Swedish duck eggs last Tuesday, all less than 10 days laid. I will be adding chicken eggs tomorrow, day 7 for the ducks, so lockdown/due date will be the same for all of them. All the chicken eggs will be less than 10 days old also (well, I might sneak in a couple older lavender eggs). I was just trying to decide whether to add tomorrow's eggs in with them or not.

I don't usually spray my duck eggs, and I don't think I will this time, or do the cooling thing either.

It is now the end of day 20 with my home made incubator. The first little "mini Sussex" hatched a few moments ago on the top shelf and five other eggs already have tiny holes in them. It is all very exciting.

Even my dog finds it interesting!

thats what I was asking silly, because of breeds and weight loss. some do that and some people dont. some run dry and dont do it but get that yellow goop with ducklings, some do it and run some water in them so they get better ducklings. I have hatched about 12 bators of them, but not a bunch of dif breeds. ancona, pekin, scovy and silky ducks.

Very cool! The dog is beautiful too!

I haven't yet contacted them yet. The listing stated they were not responsible for fertility of eggs after shipping so I figured it would be through insurance.
eBay has built in protection, I am not familiar with the insurance that is available but if you go to "my Ebay" and select return item, one option will be defective. Select defective (as they were not fertile) Write a one liner stating they are not fertile and then just wait. I am almost positive you will get a refund if not by the seller ebay will take care of it. (This is based on my understanding of how regular products work, maybe eggs are different not 100%)

However, as someone posted maybe check to see if they are fertile by cracking them and checking first. May not be in fact the sellers issue

So I am going to work on introducing these new hens to my other birds and I hope it goes well

I would love to be getting fertile eggs from these hens, I am pretty sure that my silkied serama was with a rooster before I got her because her egg looked fertilized when I cracked it open- fingers crossed!
