Incubators...what type

Total agree NYREDS.

I used a Little Giant, followed the directs exactly and had 100% hatch out. That not say that you'll always hatch out, just points out that a little reading really helps.

I have two 1588"s. I use one for incubating and one for hatching. I have a turner and would not be without it. I have been hatching from December till just a few days ago with out a bit of trouble. The only thing I did about humidity was to make sure the trays were filled correctly. Happy Hatching!

LOL....

All it takes is knowing your incubator!! and reading the directions for temps and humidity...

I will never trade my 1583 !!....I have never had to adjust anything on it from day one ....

Then you are not familiar with the newest model Hovabator - the Gensis 1588. It is NOTHING at all like a LG assembly. There is no heating element ring, no wafar thermostat. It is new and improved with a built in circulated fan too.

If you would like to see the thermostat and fan assembly I'll gladly take a photo of one of mine.

When you pay for the 1588 you are not paying so much for the styrofoam box but you are paying for the new thermostat/fan assembly.

Once you use one of these you won't ever want to go back to the wafer model if you don't have to.

With the numbers of old LG's out there and the loss of hatches and the disappointment associaited with them I NEVER recommend an LG. I spent years trying to hatch in one until one day I gave up on the LG's when a batch of expensive eggs failed. Compared to what GQF is manufacturing and marketing in their line it makes no sense to buy the less grade box from LG. A little more money gets you a far more reliable incubator.

Well I called my local fleet farm and they carry the little giant and it's on sale (35.99)..however...by the time you buy the bator (35.99), the turner (35.99), and the fan (28.00) the total cost of that would be 100 bucks. SO I think I will look into the other...I hear those have the fans already in them? And some have the turner in them also.

My 1588 just came in today. It came with the fan already in it. I didn't get the turner, but the package I got was $110, plus shipping, which shouldn't be much for in the states(it was a bit more because I'm in Canada). Since I've never done this before, I think it's going to fairly easy to use with great outcomes, but of course everything gets better with practice.

I don't have the experience to recommend one over the other but my first hatch seems to be going well with the LG 9200 once I learned the virtues of dry incubating on here! The temp control knob is way too sensitive in my opinion. If it's a little low I just thump it (not even turning it) and it goes up a degree or two.

I've had great hatch rates so far in my LG but must admit you really have to keep an eye on them. I'm thinking of ordering a 1588 as well. Does anyone know if the LG auto turner will work / fit into the 1588 ?

Thanks,
Brian
