Indian runner duckling 1.5w/old is making a different sound/noise?.. like a small horn. Normal??

My Pekin female developed her quack fast as well. It was probably about week 2 that I figured out she was female. Now she is so loud and so funny when she vocalizes!
Awwww soooo cuuute!!! They aren’t as loud yet, unless they cry when they don’t see a flock of humans in the room but other than that they’re chirping or making that small like horn noise!

Oh yeah a bowl would work fine since you're with them to watch them all day. Anything deep enough for them to get their entire heads in will be fine - but small enough that they can stand in if they do get into it. I used a one gallon automatic dog waterer for a while - until it wasn't deep enough anymore. Aren't they just the cutest when t hey are swimming!!!???!!! :D I also had duck diapers for a while until I moved mine outside. You can buy them online and someone may post the link - i honestly can't remember... A lot of BYCers use them when they keep their ducks indoors.

They need a way now to dunk their heads. any type of plastic container with a lid will do it will really keep the mess down more than just giving them an open container with water. Something like this

They will be playing with all the water in an open container to the point their brooder will be soaked and then they won't be able to dunk their heads. Which is very important. They are adorable. :love

I think I’ll use a bowl from our pantry for now and see if I can deal with the mess. Since I’m home most of the day I find myself cleaning their brooder often which is good and they’re in the living room/ kitchen area where the majority of my family is always so they’re constantly being watched. But I think I might have to switch them to a bigger brooder...
