Infertile rooster???

Hi all,
Recently my Gold Laced Wyandotte pullets have started laying. I have put all of their eggs in the incubator (at seperate times) and so far none of the eggs in any of the batches were fertile. My rooster is very protective of his ladies, and I often catch him ‘doing the deed’. Is he not working properly?

Did you check the eggs for fertility before you incubated them? Crack a few eggs open and look for a white bullseye on the yolk. Your rooster may not get all your hens or theyre too fluffy.

I’ve cracked a couple open but I can’t tell, they could be too fluffy. I don’t think it’s the incubator because I am putting same age Plymouth Rock in at the same time and getting nearly 100% fertility.

If they are with the same male, then it's not likely his fault the GLW eggs are not getting fertilized.

He might be in need of some vitamin E supplementation and in addition his and the hens butt feathers trimmed to allow for proper contact.

Often with more than one male in a flock, most if not all will have chicks with just one male
