So the USA consumes 20 million barrels of oil per day. There are 3.5 billion barrels in North Dakota. So that's about 175 days of oil for just the USA. Where's the rest of the oil at that will bring us up to thousands of years worth of oil. 175 days is 6 months. Not only that but it would require about 3.5 billion barrels of water to get it out of the ground. Last time I checked, water is becoming more and more scarce. It is very scarce in the western US.

So where's the beef?

I believe the Gov was actually at it's largest during the Reagan administration. It's actually gone down over the years. I'll have to find some stats on that. You may be right, but I think it's just a right wing propaganda talking point. If you have any legitimate proof please do post.

Government grows with every administration - been that way for a long time. Last time it shrunk was 1800, after people figured out that John Adams was a terrible president.

And to think they built a desalination plant in SA, soon after which the heavens opened.

Checked it out and you are correct. As a percentage of GDP to what they spend.

Not trying to stir the pot. Just questioning where there is 1000 years worth of oil in the USA. That deposit in ND is pretty big. I'm sure we have just as much if not more in Ak and the Gulf. Just pointing out that there is a finite amount left and people should stop letting others pull the wool over there eyes. Don't worry everything is alright. Just drill baby drill and it will all get better.

If we ever run out of oil we can always convert to coal.

There is a lot of coal in the US alone that it would take longer to burn that than oil.
It would not be very clean and effiecient, but it is very much duable to do.

The North slope and Canada (basically our land anyways), been trying to drill there for years... ANWR. Gulf coast, China is drilling there. There are thousands of test holes up north that arerumored to have more oil than the Middle east just a different grade that costs more to refine.

Who would pay the difference between the cost of the oil and refining and delivering it to the pump? Where are the reserves that will last us thousands of years? Where do you get your information from?
