Injured feral pigeon - need help!

He moves his left leg but not the right? Can you video what happens if you set him down?

Edit - its looks swollen to me...

I'm just softening some pigeon mix in warm water, so when I go in to coax him with food I'll try and get a video of him falling over. It's difficult because I need one hand on the pigeon and one hand to film, but if I set him down he might try and flap away and land on his face again. I'll do my best though!

Can you film him inside the pet carrier so he doesn't try to fly? I don't think you need to moisten the pigeon mix... is it seeds?

He does seem twitchy on that leg. Another video of him trying to walk might help. As to trying to determine the sex....now there is a question! One way that seems to work is to feel down the sternum(breastbone) towards the rear of the bird. Toward the back end almost between its legs there is two bones if they feel close together it will be male if they feel further apart it will be female.
Do you have any other birds?

Is this just stuck poop? Or possibly a splinter or cut area?

I also wonder if a shallow (maybe an inch deep) pan of water might be helpful to soak the feet? I’m fairly new to pigeons so someone else should comment if that’s a good or bad idea. I just think there must be a hidden foot issue.

I must say you are doing an amazing thing here! Have you considered keeping him or adding any more? Or will you release him if he heals?

A nice warm epsom salt soak is a great idea as long as he stays inside to dry off. I will clean the poop off the OP was concerned about.:)

It is poop, yes. He's not very mobile so has a habit of messing on himself and rolling through it. I'm changing his bedding twice a day and I bathed his feet in warm water yesterday in an attempt to get some of it off. But not knowing his injuries, I didn't want to be any more vigorous. I will give him another foot bath when my husband gets home and I've got another pair of hands.

Ideally I'd like to return him to the wild if I can get him standing up on his own.
