Shoot, I hate to say this, but lots of dosing info on that site is not correct. The amoxicillin dose my vets have me use is 57 mg per pound twice a day. Sigh...

The dose for chickens is high, much higher than people think. How much does he weigh?

Thanks for the updated information. This is why I like to double check things. ;- ) I will weigh him tomorrow. Hes average weight for an adult rooster (Dominique or BR) if not a hair heavy since hes not been walking much.

Just weighed him on a digital scale. Hes right at 4 pounds. Holding a lot of heat in that foot/leg, even though the bandage is snug, but loose. Probably gonna go ahead and dose him with oral amoxicillin tonight. Final word on dosage?

So that little chart up there, under Avian is saying 66,000 IU / KG or about 2.2 lbs? So for a five pound bird would need about 165,000 IU? Well, the poultrymedicine chart would be about right. If one ml contains 300,000 IU, then a half a ml would be 150,000. They said .5 to .75 so that would be about right for an average hen. I guess that vet never read your manual.
