Internal Layers and Other Egg Issues....Will this never end?? LONG

The best way to find "clean" seeds is find farmers that have been holding back thier own seeds for years.. Its hard to do, but there are some old stuborn ones out there.

By the way.. organic does not mean they are not genetically altered.. you need to find NON genicaly altered seed stock.

I have been reading some sites.. to many to list, but it seems that the bad feed in the parent stock, may cause this in the offspring making it look like gentics, but it would be more of a birth defect.

Whitch means all breeders may have to do is change thier feed.

That made sence to me as my dog that is barron was raised on lamb I fed out and butcherd myself. goats milk I milked myself and so on. No dog food for her untill she was over 2yrs old. by then the problem was already diagnosed.

Speckledhen: could you repost the pic or give me a link of what you found when you did the necropsy on the internal layer? I cant seem to find that thread. I thought you said you found something that looked like yolks but hardened, many of them.

That is certainly a good hypothesis. I just wish we could get GMO-free feed and know for sure. It's always when humans think they can do better than just normal and natural that it comes back to bite them in the behind.

Here is the link to Lorelei's necropsy photos---WARNING! if you cant handle it, dont look! Here, you can see what is in these poor hens. I added photos of what we found inside Ruby, too. She died just after Lorelei.

GMO's are not allowed in organic feed. There is always the possibility of contamination though......how frequently, I can't say.
Very few chicken owners will have access to the seeds from the farmers you describe above, so at least buying organic feed is a step in the right direction......

Interesting to think GM feed can cause hormonal issues. I know watching documentaries and such that antibiotics and hormones often get passed into our drinking water, since the cleaning and filtration can't remove these things. I know this has caused alot of ED in men and a whole host of other issues as well. I wonder if maybe this might have an impact also. I realize alot of ppl who raise chickens might be on well water, but we have town water where we're at, --could this also be an issue?

ETA, I was hesitant about culling the birds, but after finding what I did, I was glad they wren't suffering anymore. They had to be suffering.
