I could be wrong .can not tail properly only half of his body in the photo .

He came from Duke and one of the hens he was penned with from my line. Duke came from Harvey. It could have been any of the hens he was with that produced him. Im thinking it was Xena and its cropping up out of the blue line but who knows because Ive never encountered split wing before. I am kicking myself for not single mating Duke this year. Live and learn. But Duke is carrying split wing without a shadow of a doubt.

agree with you .you did not had this problem before .
Xina? you are not sure ?
Duke .we don t know him .

there is a way of breeding it out in a short time 3 years max if you interested to know how?

Duke is 100% a carrier .
if there is more than one bird with a fault ,than one of your hen is a carrier to .if just one bird ,than could be a mutation or a throw back .

I would like to breed it out. The birds he has produced are good for the most part. Good tail angles. Most of them have halos and some are overcolored and some have muddy eye color but they are a good looking bunch overall. I need to get pictures of them when I get time.

Duke is the cockerel I got to improve tail angles. I also have his half sister but couldnt get any of their eggs to hatch this year.

No I am not sure it was Xena but he is built a lot like her. She has a lot of mass.

Duke the sire has a halo so 90% of his male offspring have halos. I brought Duke in to breed the high tails down.

I have several good prospects for keeper cockerels free ranging. I will photograph when the weather clears up and its not rainy/muddy.

Here is Duke the sire of the cockerels free ranging. He is in the molt but is a nice looking bird.

that what I m trying to find out who is a Dam , if you think is Xina { agree cockerel look more like they dam } than is easier to find out .
Test the cockerel with Xina ,that will tell you if is a fault you always had but never showed up or just a mutation ?
if a lot of they progeny 3 or 4 chicks out of 10 have split wing than Xina is a carrier too .if just 1 showed up or none than it is a mutation come with Duke .

Here are two pullets I put up for show. I chose for size and selected my two most mature pullets since larger birds show better. One pullet does have a higher tail and brown eyes but is huge so that is why I chose her. A lot of my other pullets are still young and dainty still.

These pullets are offspring of Duke as well over my hens.
