International Black Copper Marans Thread - Breeding to the SOP

I figure it will take years to clear up the parasitic white. I know it will be a challenge. What if they all have it?

every thing is a challenge to breed in or out ,take time and planing .
stick to the plan and you will be fine .
no magic in here ,just pure breeding science .only need one clean bird as a foundation of the breeding program . breed him/her .select the progeny without PW and mate them back to they sire/dams for a few time . problem will go away .

Isn't that shafting? I thought shafting was bad? Some of mine have some shafting.

that is not shafting . it is a well marked chest .
there is hidden genes playing in here not understood yet . BC and Birchen rooster are a same family genetic . the only difference is a Silver { birchen} and gold { BC} , this genes will make BC rooster chest randomly marked with coppery spots , but turn the BIR rooster chest laced . both accepted by the SOP . plus they are the secret genes to keep the hackle on the pullets .

new farm is 10 acres , but I m only developing one acre for the breeders chooks for the moment . need to establish my foundation breeders this breeding season .
12 large pens for trios and quads breeding . plus 15 smaller pens for single mating and pairs .
only breeders stock in this farm .
no cross contamination .

I will be working hard to get chickens like your culls:he
Thank you! These have plenty to work on just like everyone else's. Thay are no different. I have to make a choice early this morning on who goes. I need to pretty much clear out a pen to have a place for the BC cockerels. I have no choice the 4 BC cockerels in the big pen are not being nice to the girls and 100% have to be moved out. Plus the one started challenging after I banded the hens. No where else to move them. I just hope a pen of 7 BC cockerels will get along. I have several more cockerels in the youngest pen. It will be a little while till I have to worry about the youngest ones. The older cockerels must go very soon though. I hope some will go today.

sounds like chicken coops, lol.
