luna's eggs:

in about 2 weeks.

my hens stopped laying, not sure why. it is getting cold and some of them are molting but even the young ones stopped. could be worms or some health issue. only luna laid an egg yesterday.

can you tell witch chick come from witch hen?

penguin type come from them ,that is interesting .good to study .

I can't be sure on who came from which egg, therefore I have no idea who mothered certain chicks and not others. For now I am just tinkering but I will be sure to make notes on how they develop, I will band all the chicks that are super dark and compare to the unbanded (penguiny ones), of 10 only 2 turned out to have that penguin look, I find that very interesting.
they are cute , how many you have ,1 is dark face .1 is penguiny and ?

penguiny one with a lighter feet and beak is a cockerel for sure .( I suspect him too be very colorful or over colored _ less melanin _ maybe carrying some white feathers ) Speculative thought

you have the extreme . dark one and penguin one .follow they development and you will learn a lot .
take note how they feather up ,how much color they have and when they start showing it up ,etc....................

all the best

12 eggs total but only 10 chicks so far, the 10 I have in the brooder got impatient and hatched 2 days early. The other 2 eggs have been moving around but no pips yet, still only day 20 so I will be patient for them.

I agree with your speculations overall.

you have to lear to make a difference between your hens eggs . it is very important for selective breeding .
if you don t know how is a mom than how are you going to select?

each hen normally certain type of egg( shape /form and color) .

isolate each hen in a meter square cage for a week to see har egg and custom to them . like that you will know witch egg come from witch hen..

I know all my 40 breeders hens eggs by heart . I did spend a lot time tracking them down before the breeding season start . one of the reason I start this year late ,the move and I didn t have a time to catch the hens to check on them .

true maran pose . they inherited that trait from the ( le cock de combat ) Fighting Rooster from the original cross .

they stand tall and proud . nice body carriage .

Note like that will help you in the future.
