International Black Copper Marans Thread - Breeding to the SOP

Here is a few pictures of my FBCM pullet @ about 20 weeks. Not in a breeding program just a pet. Posted pictures of her as a chick. Not laying yet and is the top of the pecking order in my flock of 7. She is standoffish but not mean. Just for my own education, how does she look?View attachment 1103229

she is stunning 10 out 10 in every thing except her comb

top nosh breeder as far as the type goes .
let see the color of her eggs . all the best .

Bravo to the person who bred this special specimen of BCM

20 weeks is too early for her to start laying ,she is almost there . big girl

chooks man

PS .I do not feed my breeders chooks layer feed .
I do feed them a breeders feed .well suited for them .

So glad to see a response from you Chooks man. You are truly an old dear friend in my heart. Antonio and a nice hen #4. I will post pics. Antonio actually grew into his comb and it is not overdone like the other roosters you saw last year. I don't have Claude anymore so I am really lucky this chick is a cockerel. I have Antonio and 9 hens. I haven't had time to do anything with my chickens. Only a couple eggs each day. They are all molting. No more layers feed.

I m impressed my this fine pullet .
every thing about her is great ( love to see her comb straight and her eyes more orange ) they are not that bad but they could be greater like the rest of her body .

her what I see .
head strong and pretty
comb no bad.
eyes .good .they should be red orange
wattles great , small and round
neck = solid .long and well arched at the top. gorgeously colored ( love the rich copper color ) well flamed at the bottom
body type great 10/10 .long ,thick boat shape
back .long flat .great
tail small ,good form and shape .she is holding it low
chest = strong ,deep and well colored .few coppery feathers in there .
wings .well held close to the body .and horizontal to the ground .
legs = good length . not too tall . strong and well feathered ( too much for my liking ).good color
body color .great pure black

pressed the wrong button .

Body color great pure black no mossiness neither white .
over all confirmation = well built and well put together .

she have some thing very special = her ears tuft is coppery color ,same color as her hackle .very rare and great to have .
all her cockerels son s will be well colored

if you show one day ,she is going to do well .even in France . she is 95 point pullets .

thanks you for showing us her photos .
looking forward to see the color of her eggs

Antonio and 9 hens is good .I think you left your self short on roosters .let see how this little one will do .

let them molt and rest .

Marans chooks are not a heavy layers so they don t need the layer feed because is formulated for the layer .high calcium and low is vitamin s need to help the embryo to form .
Breeder feed is formulated to meet the need of the hen and the embryo .

love his type .short ,thick and stocky .
nice straight legs ,well feathered and spaced
lovely wide chest nicely colored .love the coppery speckle
rich red copper on his hackle .nice flames at the bottom .
nice strong head .
nice and well colored eyes

his weakest point is his comb .right number of points but bad shape and form plus the second point is a double ( M point )

side photos please so I can see his carriage ,body type ,tail angle . plumage type ?

Hope this is 'allowed', maybe appreciated as a 'bad' example?
If not, let me know and I will delete.
Definitely not an SOP bird just a pet, but was wondering about the dark comb/wattles.
Does that correlate with the mossy feathers?
Do you think she is crossed with something else or just a really bad 'line'?
Sorry don't have a good side view. She's 11 wks old.

She is gorgeous!! You don't see BCM Hens with copper ear tufts very often. You should be very proud of her.
