International Black Copper Marans Thread - Breeding to the SOP

The three hens I have with Thor one lays a speckled egg and the other two lay a dark egg. Sorry to say that the two that lay the dark eggs quit laying half through collection. By the time I got my incubator fixed. The dark eggs where pretty old but put them in anyways. Not a good pictures. The flash lightened them. The white eggs are actually blue Ameraucana eggs.

Marchick,

I really like the color / sheen of the egg on the left and the spherical shape of the egg on the right. You have the ingredients now all you have to do is mix them together to produce some pullets that lay a dark spherical egg.

Keith
I hope since the dark egg is from a pullet. The shape might change some. I think this is the most pointed egg I have collected so far from my pullets.

Took a few pictures of my oldest grow outs today. I am definitely seeing potential breeders! These are Apollo x #60 (pure Line A).

My favorite pullet.. she reminds me of Zanitta when she was that age.

One of my favorite cockerels (he loves cuddles).

Front view (nice solid black breast). Looks like one of his broodmates has been picking his hackle.

Another cockerel I really like. He has some leakage but not much and no shafting.

Another pic of the first cockerel. His shape actually reminds me of Griffin. When he was young. He needs more breast to balance out his bottom line, but his tail set is good and he has a nicd long back.

Kayla,

Very nice chooks - good type, size, comb, and eye / feather color! They have a lot of growing to do but are also full of promise.

Congrats,
Keith

he is late maturing large tall cockerel .
agree with you nice long back and great tail angle . he is your way out to fix the tails .he is a Tail fixer .

he is not the most colorful cockerel there . dark shoulder and too much sheen on them .his Autossomal genes are not well lined up .

@kfelton0002

color wise this cockerel is more correct .BAD comb .his tail look good too .

Apollo X 60 ( this lady is serious breeder I ll name her for you SHERAZ .great fine wise ) is producing nice progeny .few different type are hidden in there . interesting how many type they ll be able to throw .
I can tell they are from a same line but not well inbred .which is a good thing for you ,they still carries a lot different traits the good and the bad .

Great job .you done well .
great pairing .I can see .type .body color .nice comb ,good tail angle . they are all there .the problem they aren t in all in one bird . guess that it is your future job to assemble all this good traits in one bird or few .
you are a good breeder .I can tell .you have a good intuition about pairing the chooks .plus you have goals too . very important .we can just breed chooks just to breed .we need to fix the problems they have and breed true the quality they carry with them .

Great BCM line is hidden within this pair .

WELL DONE

@kfelton0002

here what stand out the most in this pullet .
1) Elegance . I always said if a person want to show ,they should select for Elegance .she is Elegant .
2) the quality of her copper ,rich end vibrant
3) the type of the copper , red not mahogany neither light .
4) quality of her black plumage ,uniform low sheen black feathers and under fluff .
5) length of her back .
6) greatness of her body type .well put together .
7) the way she walk .head high .chest forward and straight legs . no sign of any sloppiness .

now we have to wait to see the comb and the tail .hope she ll do well .I really like her .

you saying she remind you of Zanitta .than name her ( Zorritta .Zenyatta, Zabella )
