International Black Copper Marans Thread - Breeding to the SOP

Your chickens get along really well with Gus! What breed is he?
American Staffordshire When I put the chick on the floor Gus slowly lowered his body so he would not hurt the chick. I still have to watch him because he wants to play with them. He doesn't know his own strength. He also wants to sit in my lap.

thanks. I will not disappear. as I wake up early I will be able to keep in touch. I drink my morning coffee and read posts. after that my chickens get up and I let them out.
You are in Greece and I am in Florida, USA and we both have the same morning at different times! I agree you can't disappear, you help start this thread.

Thank you! This helps me make a difficult decision to rehome my flock to someone that just wants them for egg layers. I just can't breed these birds knowing I could pass on the yellow legs. Very sad days!
I know it's frustrating, I'm on my 4th or 5th different bloodline now. And I'm not sure they are going to be much better than my past lines, I've got a bunch of mossy chicks so I'm just keeping my fingers crossed. That's marans, they are a tough breed to love, especially if you know what your looking at. Ignorance is bliss.

They look really good! I love your big brooder area. Is that last one a white Marans or just a really white looking splash? So pretty!! And your dog is gorgeous! My sister and her husband have 2. We had one a few years back and he was a chicken killing machine. There was no training him so we rehomed him.

I would do so the same, can't have dogs eating chickens.
