International Black Copper Marans Thread - Breeding to the SOP

I have a 3 pullets entering Point of Lay, 1 FBCM

I also have a mystery chick that may be a Marans Wyandotte mix

And today we got these 2 pullet eggs. (Center is from our 2 year old GSL). What do you think of the color on the R one? Marans?

Looks like a Marans egg to me! Congratulations! Very pretty! I love a speckled egg. It looks a 4 on the Marans egg color scale so the color is appropriate for a Marans. The color may get a little darker as she lays her next few eggs. I have hens I swear that lay a different looking egg every day.

my sick pullet laid another egg. this time it had a soft shell as she laid it soon after the first one. I broke it and gave her as a treat. she enjoyed it.

It may take her some time to get back into the swing of laying. The fact that she is laying at all may be a sign she is getting better!

Very nice eggs! Love olive eggs. Wish I could have an entire flick of what my my 1st olive egger was ( blue marans x blue americauna). Such a sweetheart and the very 1st chicken I ever picked myself. Ah, memories, lol.

How do I sneak this in a Marans thread? I am sure this is a Black Marans with eye problems. She also lays dark chocolate eggs on the oblong side. Lol We had our 8 year old black pug stolen over a year ago. We just got this baby to help heal the large hole in our hearts. Our youth girl is holding her in the picture.
