first Blaze BC cockerel over Ruby /Jade and thy mama . your hatch will be BLue and Black. from this pen select only BC pullets and cockerels ..
move Pearl to Nimbus and the 2 BC pullets Rose and Lily second hatch . minimun Splash possible ,from this hatch select only Blue copper pullets and cockerels
ony breeding BL and Black .
next year .BC cockerel from Blaze will be mated to Blue copper pullets from Nimbus and Blue copper cockerel from Nimbus will be mated to BC pullets from Blaze .
do this method as many years I you can ,select only the best .you will have stunning line of marans BC/BLC

I guess I am a little foggy on Pearl. Not quite getting it. If she is in with both roosters doesn't her eggs need to be separated from Rose,Lily,Jade and Rubies?

not realy important if you are working with with pen breeding .you will learn in the future if you keep breeding what chicks come from wich hen .
what we are trying to do is the best cockerels from one pen will be mated to pullets from the second pen .
breeding Pearl to both cockerels ,we are giving our selves a better chance so get more like cockerels like Nimbus from Blaze pen . her chicks will be bigger because she will penned with pullets don t forget that .pullets chicks are not a same as hens chicks .old breeder throw bigger chicks .you will notice that when you start hatching .

there is ways to cut corner mt dear friend and achieve a same result .

First hatch I will have Nimbus in with Rose and Lily and Pearl their mom. Blaze in with Ruby and Jade. Hatch from both pens first hatch. Then move Pearl over to blazes pen and hatch from both pens 2nd hatch. Is that correct chooksman?

Pearl .we assumed she is a DAm of Nimbus and the 2 Girls Ruby and Jade . so we want line breeding her to reinforce the good traits she is throwing .
Pearl bred to Nimbus is line breeding mother to son .
Pearl bred to Blaze is to give Blaze progeny a little body mass and see if we can get BC cockerel like Nimbus from Blaze .

we are breeding the best hen we thin as old proven gene to a younger generation . so we will have different progeny .

you are starting line breeding now ,but you are doing it with pen breeding practice that all .you will see the chicks will be different .

you don t need more . will get complicated . you are going to from 5 plus 2 cockerels . that is a stretch by it self .
keep it smaller and managable .you will get better result .

you welcome .you will beed good line for sure .you are interested and willing ,that enough for me .
I will do my best to be helpfull. plus I like breeding marans any way mines or not doesn matter .they are marans .I like to see them bred well .I know how gorgeous are and how easy to work with them ,just they are not there yet .they will be one day if we keep doing what we are doing now .selecting and breeding .step by step .
