International Black Copper Marans Thread - Breeding to the SOP

Only about 40 Marans and will hatch some in october. I have been on some other forums for past two year. I had to cull almost all my Marans as I get some coming with green legs.
Green legs definitely some thing not right!! Same with this parasitic white. Even the great breeders have not bred out all the DQ in these birds. I know every thing takes time. But I do not think I have another 30 years left to work on it. I am hoping to find some one young to mentor. TOM

Tom , I know where the green leg came from,

I had some hatch in my old line with yellow legs. I have been trying to breed out a few flaws. This will take me some time.
I found out in my birds by breeding Father back to daughter that the green leg really showed. I just went and had the oriental group come and get then all. We still have a few adult fowl.

I culled my very first line of Marans because of Coronation combs and yellow legs. Never hatched anything from that group. Will keep what I have and work with it. When you cull all your chickens you do not have any chickens. When your buy someone else's chickens you will get culls any how.
