Hello!
I’m Sami, an animal lover who particularly enjoys birds of all types.
I’ve worked as an animal care tech for raptors and birds ranging from wild to domestic to exotic of all sizes (among other animals) for a few years before leaving for college. This past spring, I raised three lovely fowl; a duclair duck named Cece, a Swedish blue duck named pepper and an embden goose named Beetlegoose, (Bee for short,) all of which are about 3-4 months old and pure joys!
(We lost one Swedish blue, Piper, to a Mink attack that occurred while our backs were turned. We have since reinforced our run/coop and are getting electric fencing.)
Sadly, I had to leave them in the care of my family in CT, as I’ve moved to GA for my first year of college. I’ve trained my family thoroughly so they can give my babies proper care until I come back for thanksgiving. (Lucky me, school doesn’t start back up until maybe March!)

In the meantime, I’ll be helping my partner’s near clueless (about birds) brother with raising his ten couple month old chicks. While I have wide knowledge on bird/fowl care, I know chickens differ from the birds I’m used to, so I’m here to get pointers from all you seasoned chicken keepers!

Forgot to add, I’ve been called names like “Dr. Doolittle” or “Snow White,” but I’m not special- I’m a strong believer that when you put in the time to get to know an animal as they grow and develop, they’ll become tame and calm with you. It’s all about trust and understanding c:

Hello there Sami and welcome to BYC! :frow
Your photos are adorable! :love You are so correct in that if one just gives their birds more attention, time and dedication, they will find out just how intelligent, sensitive and affectionate they really are! The average person that has never kept birds cannot comprehend. :p

So glad you decided to join our community!
