I am a breeder and hatch out a lot of chicks every year of which around half are males. In years past we did process some but not anymore. We do have a butcher down the road so if I want any chicken to eat I get them from him. I grow out all of the chicks and keep the best as future breeders and sell the others which helps to offset the cost of the feed. I do keep most of the females of which some will go into breeding coops and pens and some into my general population coops and pens for their eggs which I sell.
