Is anyone else waiting for a chick order? CHICK PICS!!

Today is the day they ship out! I'm so excited that I can barely sit still! How long do they usually take to ship? I dreamed about chickens all night last night.

Mine came from Welp. They hatched last Wednesday and were here Friday morning. My babies are 1 week old today.

The babies took a nap in a couple cardboard boxes today while Mom cleaned the brooder and changed the littler.

Well, my chicks that I ordered from MPC still aren't here!

I'm hoping that they are ok.

They were scheduled to ship out Monday, October 18th and their email said that if I didn't recieve an email telling me that my shipping date changed, to expect them no later than Friday. And if I haven't received them by Friday, to call...but not before then. I am so nervous! This is the first time I ordered any chicks from a hatchery, as I usually get them from local breeders, and it's almost Thursday.

I sure hope they are ok where ever they are! It's been pretty toasty here this week...in the mid 80s, and I just worry for my babies!

SO having tortured the post office clerk, cross-examining him to make sure that he was not holding out on me and that he did not have my chickens hidden in the bowels of the sorting room, I inquired if my 50+ babies might be on the next truck and would he call me if they were, I think I annoyed him. He said most likely they would be on the 6:30 AM truck and that they would call me in the AM.

Sooooo, another sleepless night and hopefully a call at 6:30.

I did rewire my brooder with a photocell so the second bulb now only comes on if the first bulb turns off, burns out, or otherwise fails.

If they don't call at 6:30 AM, I am going to spend the day in the post office like a groupie waiting for the ticket window to open!
