Is it considered appropriate

Twigg...I've yet to see someone discussing politics in the incubating and hatching section, or the raising chicks section! If a tiny picture upsets you....don't look at it. There are way more important things in life to get upset over. I look at the avatars and sig lines as a way people can tell something about who they are. I find them interesting, not offensive. If those kinds of issues are keeping you from relaxing and enjoying the forum I have no suggestions for you other than to not visit. I'd hate to see this become a forum where people can't share a bit about who they are.

I think the staff here has been very fair in allowing discussion of politics or religion as long as it is respectful of others and they dont' turn into flame wars or name calling or other nastiness.

As far as sig lines, since you are bringing it up again, what I said in my PM to you was that while aggressive politics is not really something we want here, inoffensive low key avatars and sig lines referring to politics are ok.

I see a lot of political reference in sig lines in this thread protesting it. To follow your thinking, all political reference would need removing, even yours.

As always, great ideas, Jody. I have alerted the staff to your post and ideas.

If something is so offensive that it burns your eyes, report it. If the staff feels it needs addressed after we discuss it, it will be addressed. If it is just something you don't like, let it go, ignore it don't read it, skip over it. But remember, you might be missing out on good info when you refuse to look past the low key things that offend you.

I have Palin in my avatar. It is very low key. I say nothing about it. My avatar is there because I really like her in any way shape or form. I do not discuss politics or religion. . I could go on, but it's not my policy. And so far, people that like it PM me privately.

Well, I suppose you could do what I do. There are people/members here that I seriously cannot stand. Yep, me, nice, usually helpful speckledhen has disdain for some people. I really dont like some of the members; in fact, I very much dislike them. I avoid their posts because they usually have nothing of value to say to me or anyone else, for that matter, IMO. Their outlook offends me, their manner offends me, their general attitude and writing style offends me. I just think they are pretty lousy people in general. And guess what? When I see a post started by them, I roll my eyes and skip over them. I dont need or much respect their brand of humor, politics, religious beliefs or lack thereof, so I avoid it in order to have a more pleasant day. Maybe you could do the same, huh? And for the record, I dont particularly like many of the avatars and sig lines, but hey, it's what you're allowed, so I pass over them. And you can do the same with mine. Just follow the rules here and be respectful of others, either by summoning up all the tact you can muster, or just dont "speak" to them. Pretty simple, really. I dont think this will become a big political debate forum; hasn't yet. And if it did, you wouldn't see me around here much. Just avoid the subject or the person in question.

SpeckledHen, it's time you got over this shyness problem. Really, speak your mind, don't hint around and expect people to guess how you really feel.

PS: I hope I'm not one of your despised individuals. I'll change my avatar to a Barred Rock, I'll promise not to move to Georgia and ride all-terrain vehicles near your house, I'll write to the Pope to get him to pray for Zane, and I'll nominate your house to Better Homes and Porches magazine! Just say I'm not on Your List.
