We have lemon grass that has dried up/died from the weather and I'm wondering if it's safe to use around quails and/or chickens in terms of bedding?

The quails tend to kick their pine shavings out of their ground coop's entrances and I used to use leftover hay as a barrier to prevent that (and they won't trip over it) but I'm out of hay and I've got plenty of dead lemon grass from the garden. I won't shred them up just going to use the long leaves as they are. Since they're dead and was sitting in the sun, the smell from them isn't as pungent anymore. Idk if they'll try to consume it.

I've tried looking it up but I just get recipes instead lol.

Ialso get 🌾 grass wheat from the food store they love it and will even nest in it if it's big enough lol had a male button who used to use it as his bed when ever she kicked him out of the nest cuz she was broody, by food store I mean grocery
