Yep. I have over a dozen Buff O's. Several have looked like pullets until suddenly those wattles and comb begin to grow. I've even had boys who feathered out looking female until suddenly, over night, they sprout saddle feathers and started chasing the girls.

Usually what is a dead giveaway for me are the feet and legs. The males always have thicker legs and bigger feet with longer toes than the females do.

I love my Buff O roosters. Even the ones crossed with my Wesummers are beautiful, friendly boys.

Well I definitely can't keep him...I'm so sad...

I'm so sorry and feel your pain right now. It's looking like both our Dominiques are Roos, and will have to go. We have 2 Buff Orps as well, I will be totally over this chicken thing if either of them ends up a boy too. :(

I feel your pain, we bought 3 orpington "Pullets", feathered out like roosters and currently have nice big combs. the other pullets we got from them are pullets and are starting to get their color in. maybe you can call around and see if there is a 4H group around that maybe willing to take him? I don't know anything about show quality but he is a beautiful bird.

Not only is he beautiful, he's a lover! He snuggles my mom under her chin...getting kinda big though to do that...
