It could be a bullying thing. I think that is either an Italian or a Calico. The makes if those colors have red throats. For example this is my Italian Coturnix hen Pancake. As you can see she has no red on her throat and the only male like behavior I've seen from hens is them bullying each other. Sometimes they will peck but not let go. Could you try to vent sex it? If it's male it should produce a white foam.I just notice right now it tried to mate with my hen but I always taught it was a hen since my male quail would always trie to mate with it everyday
Yeah, it's throat has the tiniest hint of pinkish red.I'm not sure either....does it crow? I'm leaning towards male, though!
I'm happy to help!I'm not sure, but here are some quail nerds that might be able to help.

@Gigachad poultry might know too, they keep lots of quail.
Your bird is very pretty! Where did you get her from?
Here these might help!I just notice right now it tried to mate with my hen but I always taught it was a hen since my male quail would always trie to mate with it everyday
I guess that it is a male.I just notice right now it tried to mate with my hen but I always taught it was a hen since my male quail would always trie to mate with it everyday
Yeah, I'm leaning more towards male now too!I'm guessing male. Just because another male mounted him doesn't make him a hen. Young males will mount anything that moves, and sometimes things that don't.
