Hatcheries aren’t like the ones you hear about in the US. Our ‘hatcheries’ are private breeders, can be small scale or large scale. I’m pretty sure you can’t ship chicks here, only eggs. There are quite a few farms that specialise in hybrid pullets like Novas, Bluebelles, BCM hybrids and other production layers. These farms are quite pricey. You may have some small scale breeders around you. Check preloved, that’s your best bet. Small scale breeders don’t tend to vaccinate and their chicks are usually cheap but please make sure you properly check them before purchasing. I prefer buying hatching eggs as breeds I want are in London and bloody ages away. I can list a few hybrid breeding farms or private breeders if you like?

Yes. If you are wanting silkies though, there are no big big breeders. There are lots of small private breeders however. Are you in the north? I’m pretty sure there’s a few breeders in Doncaster, York and Rotherham
