The way I see it, You have not been refused service...yet.
The manager just said he did not want your business, too bad for him because he is going to get it anyway.
I like buckeye lady"s suggestion also.

I work for a Tour and Travel company. I schedule motorcoach transportation for a living I guess you would say. The majority of my business this time of year is field trips.

I am positive that the motorcoach company will not mind a change in plans expecially if you inform them of the rude manager. You probably should have contacted your sales rep and asked if they could suggest an alternate lunch stop. If your rep is any good he/she would make several other suggestions even if it was a little out of the way.

I personally make notes of restaurants that work well with groups and those that don't. I make sure that I send all the business I can to the motorcoach friendly restaruants and no business to the places that do not appreciate my business. It would surprise you how many restaurants that do not want our business. But the ones that do more than make up for the others. They bend over backward to serve our groups quickly. The driver generally gets a comp meal.

Subway makes a wonderful box lunch with a sandwich, chips, drink and cookie for around $6.00 in our area. They are premade and most Subways will deliver to the coach. You can stop at a park with a picnic area and enjoy lunch. Most McDOnalds will quickly handle your group if you give them a heads up. If you are going to be late a phone call will be appreciated.

Any restaurant can refuse to serve you. They have the right to do so. I suggest not taking the group to this particlar McDonalds because I doubt you will get the service you deserve. If you are refused service you will have to get everyone back on the coach and look for another location to eat.

If you are bent on going anyway, I would have a back-up plan in case the manger refuses service. You can address the problem with their corporate office after the trip. Also you should be able to find out who actually owns this particular McDonalds. I bet the owner will not be happy to hear his manager is refusing service to 30-40 kids.

I wish you well and hope your trip goes great. Let us know how things turn out.

Because of a thing called common courtesy. I would have a problem of someone refusing service to a crying toddler, or with 5 year old children. But the problem hear is with lack of proper planning. The COMPANY not the manager put very tight man hours crimps on the managers this is then passed down to the employees who sometimes are senior citizens just trying to make ends meet. Courtesy goes a long ways to make things happen smoothly. The best she can do now with this late of date is to have pre orders ready and called in. People who work for a living even if just slinging burgers deserve respect too.

As far as the manager is concerned all he has to do if it is peak lunch hour is point to the sign on the wall from the fire Marshall for peak capacity. In this case not only are other customers inconvenienced, with employees, but people's safety is endangered by exceeding max capacity. Many Many restaurants have signs posted no buses without advance notice. This is so they can have enough help on hand to handle customers responsibly, this was not done in a timely manner in this case.

I have never seen a sign or heard of one that says no buses and I'm 20 years driving one, she is giving common courtesy, she told him they were coming, this is a public place, its MD, why are these kids not good enough to be served they are the backbone of MD, look at all the adds on the TV, its the kids not adults, whats wrong with them going. if this mananger can't handle this group then he should call in someons who can.

I think 24 hours is plenty of advance notice. Most restaurants work off just a few hours notice of motorcoach groups.

We have no problem stopping at a fast food location with no notice. Out of courtesy the group leader should go in and ask if they can handle the group at this time. If not go to the next one down the road. But with 24 hours notice they should have no problem being prepared for a group of 30-40 people.

Before I joined the Navy I was a swing manager at McD's
I can tell you this...I refused service to two people in the three years I was at that store. Both were drunk and belligerant.

I've had two buses of football, band, and cheer leaders 15 minutes before closing. What did I do? SERVED THEM ALL! (some of the big ones twice)

I didn't leave that night until around 0300 AM.

If this guy won't "play ball" find another place on your route like Windy's or Hardees or whatever. Then send the DISTRICT manager a letter about how much business this guy lost his store.
Things WILL CHANGE ASAP!!!

Disagree, its not discrimination they just dont want a large crowd at one time.

Also under federal law age discrimination you must be over 40 yr. old.
