I woke up this morning to one of my chickens with a baseball sized “lump” on her neck. It doesn’t look like her crop area but closer to her head. Please help!
Maybe blocked or slow crop is more likely than sour to start off with. Did they have access to feed over night or before you saw them?
I would monitor behavior... is she eating, drinking, active, or lethargic? Is she pooping and is it normal? Is there any sour smell coming from her mouth? Why is she all blu coted up?
Was she vaccinated against Marek's? Do they have access to grit or dirt?
She's so pretty. Hope she is well or recovers quickly!
She seems to be acting normal, I haven’t seen her eat or drink yet, but they do have access to food overnight. I don’t believe she was vaccinated, we got her from TSC as a chick.
One of the dogs got her a few weeks ago so we sprayed her and put her with our smaller chickens so she wouldn’t get picked on by the bigger ones.
Keep an eye if she starts acting slow or sleepy. Maybe consider moving her to an overnight hospital box so you can withhold feed to monitor crop function and droppings.
Glad she appears to be recovering from the dog attack! Hope she is fine and just keeping you on your toes. But if you never seen it before you may be onto something. Good watching out!
Okay, so after removing her and placing her in her own pen, I felt her neck area where the bulge is coming from and it was just her neck? Almost like she has it puffed out all the time. I’m really confused now.
I did take a picture of her poop, to see what you may think. @EggSighted4Life
