normally i roll my eyes at the politicians that run but donald trump is one of the people that I do not know in real life that i truly dislike. I don't know why he bugs me. I don't watch him enough to really get a full feel of his personality and usually people are different in real life than they are on tv. but that's just my feeling.

In real life he is really nice he donates to charities and creates tons of jobs. Just look at how many jobs he created by just making one hotel

I guess I just don't understand, We live about as cheap as any human can. No credit cards in the past 15 years, paid cash for our last vehicle, paid cash for our land. Our house pmt is $300. a month. Groceries tripled, gas through the roof, Insurances UP. I have always paid my own way, never had to take any public assistance. First summer we were here highest elect bill was 185. Last summer it was 378. Im afraid to run it ( A/C ) this year. NEVER BEEN IN THIS SHAPE BEFORE. EVER.......... Linda, I just don't get it.

No matter who is in the White House or who controls the congress, we are in a pickle. We are like the guy in a falling airplane that is so scared of jumping out of it that he rides it to the end. The end is coming soon when the Chinese stop buying our bonds.

The medicine is so bitter, we would rather die of the disease.

To cure the problem we need to move away from the income tax and start building national capital. We need to rely on tariffs for revenue. We need to protect our own industrial base.

About half of our population pay no taxes now. They say they pay their taxes, but then in April they file and get every thing back. Some even get the earned income credit.

Taxing the wealthy is not the answer. The really rich live in the middle east or the far east and are well beyond our taxing authority. Just making more people poor with our taxing policy just causes unemployment.

The Fed needs to forget about fiddling with the money supply. Keynesian economics only work in a sealed system. Now days money flows from country to country in a twinkling of an eye. When the Fed reduces the interest rate in this country, the money flows out to other countries in cheap loans.

That is what finances industrial development in other countries. Did not BofA loan its tarp money to China?

Unfortunately, such a large portion of our population has become hooked on the opium of social welfare. Food stamps, unemployment insurance and other welfare programs will be the last thing to go. The problem is not that we cared too little for our poor, but that we cared too much.

As long as everything in the stores is made in China, we will not cure our unemployment problem. The whole nation cannot exist on the dole.

During the last great depression, our industrial base was preserved by Smoot Hawley Tariff. In the current situation, cheap money loans as a result of the Fed's action have financed the de industrialization of our nation. When foreigners buy a company they own it. It is theirs to move to the far east or where ever. And they do just that.

If we had to fight a war with China, we couldn't. They have our industrial base now. What would have been the result in World War II if our factories had been sold off to the Japanese?

I do not see a fast and easy resolution of our current problems. No matter who hold political power, things are going to get worse.

I agree with everything but the china war situation.... GM, ford, Chrysler etc were utilized by the war effort and that was one of the reasons GWB supported the bailouts... Rosie the riveter was born in an automobile factory (building munitions and tanks/guns/plans) while her hubby was fighting the Nazis.

Look I'm sorry, I don't mean to stir the pot but I cannot believe some of you are seriously entertaining the thought that Donald Trump could make things better. He's a man who inherited a fortune and turned it into a debt yet he is vying for a debt he wants to turn into a fortune? Laughable. Obama may not be the godsend to fix this country but in reality, who is? If you really think voting in some of these people who want to run this country on a theology you are flat out expelling the constitution. That's as political as I'll get today, but you really need to think, yes Obama hasn't solved the world's problems, but do you really think your candidate could do any better?

GM, Ford and Chrysler are joint stock companies. There is no telling exactly who owns them. We know the US and Canadian governments own a good stake in GM, but for how long? Chrysler is pretty much owned by Fiat, but again, for how long?

Ford sold Volvo to Geely, a Chinese car manufacturer that builds clones of other companies products. Just about the only thing in Volvo that isn't made in China is the "Made in Sweden" label.

When the Chinese gain control of these companies, they will will inherit tons of patents, plans and dies for industrial production. The military might and intelligence they will gain scares me.

I barely know who Donald Trump is.... But I don't think it matters who we get at this point in time. Unlike everyone else I don't slam Mr. Obama. I don't slam either of the Mr. Bush's either. Or anyone else. I think they are all totally out of touch with the reality of working class America.
I do however think all the party stuff should be thrown out the window. Democrat, Rebublican, Klingon, who cares? We need someone from the working class that knows what it means to need a job, have to struggle to pay bills, people like a heck of a lot of us that cringe when the phone rings because you just know it's another bill collector. We need a person who has missed a meal, had to wear work pants, had to lay awake at night worrying about a sick child, had to drive a 20 year old car and make that choice between buying groceries or making the house payment. Someone who has lived in the REAL world.

Maybe it's just me, I dunno. But I'm scared.

I completely agree with you. Your comment is sincere and true. I just think that in our day and age, it doesn't work like that... church and state separate but the conservative line is all about religious beliefs. I'm not saying they are wrong, I'm just saying religion does play a role in our current system. My dad is in his 60's and he has told me a number of times that in his entire life he has never seen such a rift between the two parties. I really hope democrats and republicans can work something out soon, because it seems all too many times they make decisions based on their career, and not how the people feel.
