These chicks are from my split x spit pen, those splits being of the dark brown variety, therefor light brown x dark brown carrying the lavender gene, producing 25% isabels. And apparently even isabels can have some variation in down color.
It's a nice sharp picture -- your picts are always good! -- It looks like the chicken is sneezing (is he?) --- If it were me, then I would go for one that is more representative of the bird as a whole -as if you were introducing them to the world, because a lot of people don't know about the coloration. .
BTW - what nice white earlobes!!!
Hope others will weigh in... I think that they all get posted and then the BYC community votes on the choices.
If you can submit more than one -- that that could sure be one of them -- some folks love 'novelty' pictures.

Thanks for the insight! That's why I ask. I know what it is! So it's hard to see how others might interpret it. She just got a drink and flicked the extra water droplets around. It's been hot here, I look t the photo and think "Ah now that's refreshing!" But she's got a wonky comb, and her inner eye lids are closed so it does make the photo look a bit off.
I don't think we got to vote last year, did we? I submitted this picture and it didn't even get a second look, and that's fine. I'm just baffled about how/why some of the selections make it to the calendar. IMO a blurry photo should never be chosen no matter how cute it might be otherwise. There were photos much better than mine, fantastic photos that got a lot of ovations, that didn't make the cut.

That photo is too cool!! If you have photo contests near your home you should enter it -- it is really worthy of an award (I participated in a few photo-contest)--- judged some for 4H but that is a different level...... That photo has it all.....
later I will go search this forum on 'vote' and 'calendar'. ---
I guess they have to take into consideration things beyond what is the best photo, I suppose trying to get as much diversity as possible for the 12-months...maybe something a bit thematic -- like a snow pict. for winter. Yep, I don't know either -- I think I didn't end up buying one last year because December, Jan and Feb were so filled with turmoil last year....and the beginning of this year....
