I use pure spearmint essential oil and spray my clothes before I go out. I find it to be 100% effective for our area.

Do you put the oil into alcohol or something else so that it's sprayable?

I was just gonna ask this. I was thinking water or something? Alcohol works too. Or straight? I can’t imagine straight as it’s EXPENSIVE for a teeny tiny bottle.

I don't think water would work because it wouldn't mix properly with the oil.

With essential oils, you have to use a carrier oil. Like vegetable or olive oil or something

When the water runs off some more I’ll go out and check the birds in the daylight and get the drowned cockerels tossed. I can’t hardly stand to wear my mud boots right now. I tore up my legs wearing them and it’s like rubbing sandpaper on them.

Ouch! Hope all your birds are ok though. We were supposed to get some pretty nasty storms here too but it ended up just pouring and thundering for a while
