It certainly sounds like she could be soft molting... (Nice sized eggs she's been getting into!)

Also, I'm glad your grand daughter got to grab an Annabelle egg today. That's so sweet.

If she is molting... throw her some extra protein. It helps them get through it faster and for healthy beautiful feathers. I gave my girls canned tuna and mackerel as "treats" for protein once I realized what was happening... and I'm glad I did!
hmmmmm I will have to see what I have to give as a snack for them for extra protein. I have mice?/rats? (not sure which but by the ones I caught I am guessing bigger mice) in the run at night (they managed to tunnel under my wire. UGH!) so I have been trying not to throw down too much in the way of treats so there isn't anything down for the rodents to eat. I used to leave the food in the run since I "thought" it was safe so now take that in too. :( None go in the coop at all though so hopefully it says like that. There is no food in the coop so no reason for them to go in there.

Daenerys (Dany is her nickname) is so dang sassy already. I think Sage is going to be such a precious adult but she's terrified of me still for now LOL

I'm SO CONFUSED about Zirco. I thought she was just gonna be solid black, but now she's getting some interesting colors in at the ends?? Very curious about how she will full feather out!

Yes Green Queens are basically just a Meyer's branded green layer/EE... they have pics on their site of a bunch of different looking birds for this type... including a lovely wheaten one. From other searches it seems most people have just been getting solid black green Queens, though...so I was not surprised when they arrived and I saw a fluffy black chick. She will have a chance to lay brown like other eggers. This is part of their description on the site:
Green Queens are an extremely hardy breed that will lay lots of large green eggs. They will come in a wide range of colors, most are bearded, some will have feathered legs, and some even have 5 toes!
ok that is basically what I thought green queens were but never knew they could have feathered legs! and cool on the 5 toes. :) hmmmmmm may have to look into them.

can't wait to see how Zirco turns out with the interesting colors.

LOL on Dany being sassy already. I hope Sage comes around to not be terrified of you.

They are funny little chickies. I am really looking forward to how they all grow :love I think I'll wait about 3 more weeks before I introduce them to the flock. I've gotta set them up a "safe zone" in the run incase any of the big girls decide to be meanies....

TIME FOR A DUCK EGG UPDATE!
@Smiles-N-Sunshine

So, the Welsh Harlequin eggs are only on day 4 of incubation... but I couldn't help myself... and I found some AWESOME, EARLY surprises!

Normally you can't see anything on day 4 of duck eggs... but these babies are showing off!

Here are eggs #8, 10 and 11 under Blackie...you can see the dark baby blob and veining on each one!!! (eggs #9, 12 and 13 aren't showing anything yet)

In the incubator... Eggs #1, 2, 3, 5, 6 and 7 also show veining(some easier to see than others... especially in pics.) Egg #4 has the detached air cell and shows no signs of life yet. Usually when an air cell is TOTALLY detached and floating around all willy nilly, the egg got pretty scrambled in transit. I will keep it in incubator until day 10 to be safe.

How exciting to see!!!!!!!! I haven't candled eggs since I was a kid and raised chickens! I still remember how exciting it was to see how they were progressing and then watching them hatch out was amazing as well! Just something I think you never forget!

I had to take pics and put them back quickly(and gently) but really it was so I could stare at the pics afterwards. It's just so neat to see them growing in there!

...also I'm extraordinary excited about seeing development in Egg#1 that was cracked :love I promise I will cry if it becomes an early quitter!

Wow, how exciting! I'm glad things are on track and it wasn't a colossal mistake to ship eggs in winter! (This one time, anyway.)

I'm impressed at how well you're taking care of them at this stage. I have more of a "fire and forget" type style, with daily checks for incubator malfunctions and water level, pulling the clears and quitters on Day 7, and lockdown on Day 25... which is TODAY.... <<squee>>

They say not to count your chickens before they hatch, but no one has EVER said this about ducklings. EVER!

Will you track which duckling hatches out of which egg somehow, so you can name the #1 duckling Uno or Optimus Prime or something, and give it extra peas at treat time?
