I would love to breed some lovely babies down the line... I am not ready for that life yet. (I thank BYC for letting me live vicariously thru other's threads/experiences on that, haha)
You could either set up a lawn chair at the nest boxes with some popcorn

or maybe install a camera? I have an Arlo set up in my coop (#Creep) that sends me alerts when there is motion at the nest boxes so I can track who is laying what and when. Its fun and the kids like to peek at it to make sure they are all "tucked in safely" at night
The pelvic separation is super easy to check. I learned how from a thread on here that had an easy/cartoon image of locations. My first try at first I was thinking, how the heck am I suppose to feel anything past these feathers!? ...but after you find the location once it's easy peasy!
