IT HAPPENED!!!

No new layers still. So guess at least they waited while we were camping.

Idk... my girls have been on strike for 2 days. I got one egg yesterday and none today

oh no. While we were away both girls laid Sat and Sun. My friend that fed my other pets and collected the eggs took those and made herself breakfast! Then Nugget laid today. Think Nugget did another 7 days in a row this past week too! She is just blowing my mind! Guess she is trying to make up for her sisters being lazy. LOL

What a good girl, Nugget! All of my girls abruptly stopped laying. I noticed my Nugget shaking her head a lot... checked her and the others for mites but saw none on them. Anywhere. I checked the coop and nest boxes and found some weird tiny things up by the ceiling... treated for mites after posting pics of them. They haven't laid since I treated them and the coop and ontop of that, it seems that they are ALL head shaking and preening more now... I have to do 2 follow up treatments, so we will see. I miss the daily eggs!

What a good girl, Nugget! All of my girls abruptly stopped laying. I noticed my Nugget shaking her head a lot... checked her and the others for mites but saw none on them. Anywhere. I checked the coop and nest boxes and found some weird tiny things up by the ceiling... treated for mites after posting pics of them. oh no that stinks! Hopefully whatever it was clears up quickly and they get back to laying for you!!!!!!!

I checked Annabelle and Marshmallows pelvic bones again yesterday and Annabelles are still close together (she sure looks ready by her comb and wattles but guess I still have a much longer wait with her than I thought). Marshmallows were already further apart and seemed like maybe a bit further this last time than the one before. Her comb and wattles are really red now too, but still nothing. They have actually all slowed down on going in the coop to check it out compared to what they were doing last week. So who knows when they will lay. I thought I checked Marshmallows pelvic bones a couple weeks ago and they were apart then...... So who knows. maybe where it is getting cooler and shorter days they are going to make me wait till next year........... I sure hope not! But I did read that brahma's and cochins will lay all winter normally........ so who knows. LOL

Nugget has been in the box today for 3.5hrs and is still in there............ Not sure why. hoping she isn't going broody. She isn't a breed that is known for it from what I remember. She took Mon off, laid Tue and Wed. I know one of those days she was in for a couple hours then too. Only reason I know today is I checked since neither were in the box early so got a notification and saw that Hummer was in the box and Nugget was just heading in. So peeked since I was going to go get the eggs....... nope Nugget still in. I keep checking here and there and she was still in there. So I went out and instead of opening the box from the outside and scaring her I just went in the coop to get Hummers egg. Nugget just hung out in the box while I did that. LOL No clue if she has already laid or what.

Hahaha what a weirdo. Moon did this sometimes (back in the days when my chickens still laid eggs before "the incident"...)

Maybe she's just really comfy or maybe she's going to ghost egg you. Most of my ghost egg experiences involved a chicken in the box for way longer than normal!

I just completed the 2nd treatment for mites... the girls are all scared of me now They don't even want treats from me. I hope that gets better with time but I have to traumatize them again next week.... then it could be a month or more before they lay again... maybe I'll have eggs next year LOL

Well after 4.5 hrs in the box I went and opened it. And she puffed up and bawked at me. I finally got her out and she was screaming her egg song. I told her she was not hatching eggs now. It was too late in the year and she is too young. Lol guess I see what she does tomorrow. Her ghost eggs she is in there for a couple hours but today she looked like she had zero intentions on leaving

I'm so sorry but this made me laugh a little "you're not hatching eggs now, little lady! " My goodness... it does sound like she's having broody behaviors! Good thing you kicked her outta there. Might have to keep a close watch on her these next few days for more of that behavior
