A dozen a day!? Wow, I cannot imagine. I thought I ate a lot of eggs. Will you sell them or gift them away? I give out a half dozen a week to friends and still have a full carton on stand by. I get about 21-24 eggs a week. Once a week I try to make something egg heavy like a breakfast casserole or this coming week for thanksgiving deviled eggs will be the option. However we only have a family of 3 (humans of course lol)
Mmm yess, casserole :drool we are a blended family (think Brady bunch, here.) So there are a LOT of eggs gone thru each week, LOL. I also help take care of my grandmother and she loves eggs... and pics of the chickens and videos, which I am happy to oblige :gigonce I have more girls laying steadily I will be gifting eggs to neighbors as well. They have been anxiously awaiting the day ever since I told them I was getting chicks all those months ago!

Annabelle laid #4 for the week first thing this morning.

I am guessing with my 3 laying I will get around 15 a week. I go in spurts of egg eating, but we do a breakfast casserole, or Hawaiian roll breakfast sandwiches, or quiche at least once every other week.

I have given some away here and there will be more once I start getting more. I may sell some here and there to some that have asked to buy them but for "cheap" at like $3/dz to help with food cost. But I feel bad charging family. Lol
Go Annabelle! Is it another pretty pink? She's such a girly-girl.

Would you share your quiche recipe with me?? I use to really enjoy quiche but haven't had one in forever, and have never made one:oops:

Also you shouldn't feel bad if someone wants to pay for eggs - the prices have gone up in stores... your eggs are certainly better quality and taste... AND it's not like these eggs get laid for "free" hahaha. I totally understand where you're coming from, but if they WANT to throw a couple bucks towards the continued egg-spress, let them! :hugs

These are my girls in order of who began to lay first. Katniss (head of our pecking order) Stevie, Emma, and Darla.

I will have to find my recipe. I had a GREAT one in a cookbook that I used all the time and one day my cookbook vanished and I haven't found it since and that was years ago. So I try to remember exactly what it was and can't do look online and go by memory from that. They are really easy to make. I cheat and do frozen pie crust and make 2 at a time. You can add any fillings but I do bacon, onion, ham and swiss cheese. :) give me a few to look around and be sure I am remembering right. LOL

love that you have a blended family. There are only 4 of us that live here but my older daughters boyfriend is here a few nights a week, my mom stays here 1 night a week and my younger daughters "friend" is normally over on Sat nights. so I cook for at least 5 most nights so choose those nights to do egg things most times. Tonight I will do a breakfast casserole with hashbrowns in it and also the hawaiian roll breakfast sandwiches since there are going to be 6 here and don't know if 24 tiny sandwiches are enough. LOL

that is great on your grandmother! My grandparents raised chickens, then my mom for a bit, then when I was younger we had them. that is actually where Annabelle's name came from was my grandfathers (my moms dad) favorite bantam buff brahma was named that and my mom said she was the sweetest. I had ordered buff Brahmas with my order and one was going to be Annabelle but they didn't come in so I had to substitute so got the buff cochin and another light brahma so let my mom pick and she picked the Cochin. Which worked out perfect since she is the sweetest girl I have and the light brahma is so standoffish. LOL

Quiche- for each Quiche 3/4C heavy cream. 3/4 C milk. 3-4 eggs (says 3 large eggs) Mix that up together. ( I add min my meat/cheese/eggs but most things say to put it on the bottom). Brown up 1 onion (use 1/2 in each quiche), 1 lb bacon cooked and crumbled (use 1/2 in each one), and about 1/2-3/4 lb diced ham I normally heat it up to get any extra liquid out and 1 C cheese for each quiche. Mix all together.

blind bake the pie crust for 15 min or so just so it starts to cook. Add in mixture.

cook at 350 for 45-50 min (mine always takes over an hour) till set in the center. will still jiggle a bit but should be kinda "firm" if that makes sense.

The site I just found basically said use 2 C "filling" for each one. so if you do veggies use about 2 C. etc.

We have another contestant on the Egg Show!

Today, at 29 weeks and 2 days old... Silver (Olive Egger) laid her first egg!

She spent 3 hours scampering around in and out of the coop, in and out of nest boxes, all the while squawking like she could hardly contain herself.

She finally chose a nest box and laid a beautiful GREEN EGG! (I was worried she was gonna lay brown  )

Here is Silver and her pretty eggie!

I remember this story and absolutely adore it. I think this is the sweetest thing ever, and Annabelle is doing a marvelous job living up to her name ❤ (I think this story is why I'm partial to miss Annabelle of your flock!)

It sounds like you understand my everyday with the extra visitors you have over. I was raised in a big family, so it is totally normal for me to cook for an army everyday hahahaha. Sliders sound like such a good idea... maybe tonight!!!
