Oh I am so excited!!!!!!!!!
Eeks! Me too! I really hope it goes well. They found a little heat pack to put in the box for shipping... so HOPEFULLY :fl it will help the eggies stay viable.

I looked back on video of when the last fake egg went missing... and I'm not SURE... but it looked like Blackie had returned from her 10 minute outing, hopped into the other nest box, rolled the egg around like normal to put it under her... then got up and went back to her middle nest. (Egg was clearly there when she hopped in and missing when she hopped out.) I think she tucked it into her armpit. LOL I gave her a couple more fake eggs today so now she has 5 and she very happily turns them throughout the day and makes cute sounds at them... its kind of precious. Hahaha

Hated the feeling of wondering if something was wrong or not
This!! I'm so glad she was just having a little break and NOT having a problem. She seems like such a sweet girl, and they really do become part of the family!

fingers crossed on the eggies still being viable!!!!!!!

I figured they had to tuck them under their wing somehow but that is too funny. And awwww so cute with her turning them and making cute sounds at them. Did she make the horrible sound at you when you were trying to kick her off before?

Her first 3 day break worried me until she laid and then I at least knew that she wasn't egg bound and her egg looked good so all was fine. But the 2nd day I was a bit worried, the 3rd day she took off had me really worried!

The funny thing about her laying today after only 1 day off is the past couple of "groupings" that Annabelle did were 3 in a row, a day off, 3 in a row..... Well she didn't lay today so only did 2 in a row again (which was her norm so that is fine). but funny that she didn't and Hummer did..... It is like it is one or the other that seems to lay. LOL

She hasn't yet... but I always give her a couple pets and talk to her before I try to move her at all (I took her out to the run earlier when I was giving them some tuna!) She kind of makes a "trilling" sound but doesn't fight me. Maybe because I'm the "rooster"? Or because I interact with them all so much all the time? No idea. Maybe she will become a total fiery, screeching pancake demon before this is over... I'll keep you updated LOL

This was what I was worrying about for you a little... except that she had laid successfully already so I wasn't as scared of this for you. I lost my ISA that kept getting egg-bound...the girl that I had to take to the vet before. Her 3rd egg broke inside her (I think in the night) and it went downhill really fast... but she did NOT suffer.

It is like it is one or the other that seems to lay. LOL
I love this, lol! Maybe they plan it out during their morning conferences over a nice sip of water and nibble of chickie-feed :highfive:

wow I know when, shoot now I forget who it was. I think Nugget, decided to camp out in the box for like 5 hrs one day and I went to open the box to get her out JIC she was going broody, she was squawking at me something horrible. She didn't go to attack me though but the noises coming out of her were NOT happy.

Oh I am so sorry about the ISA. :( that is so sad. glad she didn't suffer though. I know they can get egg bound even after they have been laying, that is when I hear about it the most I was shocked when I heard that was what was wrong with your girl before she had even started laying.

I think they sit around and plan how to throw me off and confuse me. They are like "ok mom has this all figured out now so lets switch it up and let her know that it isn't that easy". haahaa!!!!!

Yikes!!! It sounds like she was REALLY thinking about it hahahaha, good thing you got her out!

Well it was crazy because she had started egg production before having any pelvic separation begin. It was a losing situation. The vet was able to get the first 2 out but the 3rd I guess she tried to lay it in the night or something... apparently ISAs can have all sorts of different issues from how they were "created"... I don't think I will get another ISA.

I definitely think this is the case. Your girls are SO FUNNY. I love hearing about what they do hahaha

So... I think I successfully moved Broody Blackie to her new box inside the house.

First, I took her outside (she hadn't gotten off of the nest since I carried her out yesterday). She was fast to eat and drink and scratch and make a HUGE... and I mean HUGE monster poo. I've never seen the likes of it.

While she was distracted eating and stretching for a few minutes... I collected her 5 fake eggs (and found Gingers egg in there too... EGG STEALER!) and moved them to the broody box I made her inside the house.

When she started getting anxious and hopped up to run back into the coop to her fake eggs... I picked her up and carried her inside. I put her in her new nest with her 5 fake eggs and she was REALLY REALLY REALLY freaked out for like 5 minutes. I nicely set her back into her nest box and moved a couple of the "eggs" to the front to show her. As soon as she looked at the eggs, she plopped down into a pancake and rolled them underneath of her. She hasn't moved since. I have peeked in on her a couple of times to make sure she's okay in there and have heard her making the cute trilling coo sounds... so I think she is settling nicely.

If I can make her nice and comfortable in this new setup over the next few days before fertile eggs arrive that will be ideal. Then I can swap her fake eggs with the fertile ones while I let her out to play with her friends (and leave her huge broody poos OUTSIDE) :lau

sounds like a nice smooth transition and at least now you can have her food and water close so you know she is eating and drinking.

That is too funny on her stealing Gingers egg!!!!

I have heard the poops are crazy huge since they don't go and let it all build up! You are on top of things and have it all planned and in order. :)

I'm hoping it stays this way... for a few days to make sure it "sticks" and she doesn't quit being broody from the changes... Im trying to be as prepared as possible!

...but nothing can prepare for the mountainous, smelly, egg-sized broody poo that comes... . . .

fingers crossed!!!!!!! do you have an incubator if she quits being broody?

Oh YIKES on the poop! That sure doesn't get me excited to hatch in the spring. LOL REALLY hoping at least one of mine goes broody in order to hatch out some eggs! LOL Well that is if Ditzy ever starts laying since it is mainly hers I want to hatch... :) I am thinking about hatching a couple of Hummer and Itzys eggs to see if I can get bearded, puffy cheek, feathered leg babies. LOL (or Nugget and Itzy). so like a bearded puffy cheek Cochin. LOL

do you have an incubator
My uncle has one that I plan to go pick up and set up for just in case....

Oh YIKES on the poop
It's just so big........ . . .
